Felt more like a complimentary special feature of a DVD than an individual film

I saw Room 237 this year at Sundance, and having been a big fan of The
Shining, I wasn't sure of what to expect. Room 237 should really be
viewed as a complimentary piece to Kubrick's masterpiece, rather than
an individual work of art. The makers of this film really didn't do
ANYTHING other than edit video clips from various films and then
audio-dub over them with people's commentary. That being said, I was
impressed by how drawn into Room 237 I actually became as the film
progressed. The film outlines different theories on the "meaning"
behind The Shining and supports these claims with evidence from the
film. Film scholars and die-hard fans of The Shining are going to go
nuts over certain parts. The film presented in a VERY entertaining way,
mixing elements of humor and suspense. Overall, Room 237 is an
entertaining film-about-a- film that goes to show there is always more
than meets the eye..
