Amazon.co.uk Review The fifth and penultimate season of Lost isn’t, as those who have followed the series to this point might have guessed, packed full of answers. But it does nonetheless reveal more of the mysteries of the Lost island, and fleshes out dramatically some of the main players of the show.
Continuing to jump around with its time and narrative, this season also finds Lost in a more decisive mood, as some key genre decisions about the show come to fruition. And, naturally enough, it leaves things finely poised for the show’s final season, with a cliffhanger at the end of the season that, not for the first time with Lost, poses many, many questions.
So what’s so special about the Blu-ray release? The picture quality for starters, which by far transcends what you may hope and expect from a television show. Granted, Lost has rarely skimped on its production values, but the show is laden with detail, and it looks terrific in high definition. Matched toe to toe by the audio, it’s a solid upgrade from the DVD edition, and fleshes matters out with some welcome extra features too. Furthermore, there’s also an interesting, take-it-or-leave-it season play feature, that can follow just where you’re up to in the show to ensure you start back at the right place. That latter point, of course, isn’t going to sway anyone to buy the Blu-ray set. The quality of the show itself, and its presentation here, offer far more compelling arguments, however. --Jon Foster
i still can not get into lost...but my bf loves itMarch 11, 2010 B. Morales Palencia(hartlepool uk) everyone seems to be obsessed with lost but i have tried watching it a few times and it just gets soooo complicated to follow
New lost fan !!!!!!!!March 6, 2010 C. S. Scofield I have been waiting for this to come onto to DVD and have no tbeen disappointed. The story took an unexpected twist and further explained what has happened on the island. You need to concentrate as the story jumps forward and back over 30 years, make sure you watch without children and adults who are not familiar with the story line so far watching and answering questions is impossible.
Not too good.February 27, 2010 Martin Bolbroe(Lolland, Denmark) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Off course we were all very interested in the event of the Oceanic 5's return to the island. But I must admit now seeing all of season 5 episodes in a couple of days Lost is lacking a bit of the "nerve" which I personally found to be so exciting in all the previous seasons. But then again I am a true Lost fan so I will be there when the last season is out on DVD here in the autumn.
LOST IN LOST BUT LOVING IT!February 26, 2010 Peter Matthews Even more confused than ever, but hopefully this series will answer a lot of questions as to why they are all on the Island. If it turns out to be a dream - I'll scream. I sense that it's something to do with Karma, good and evil. They were meant to meet the people they did or their lives would have gone in completely different directions! - but time (no pun inttended) will tell as the series unwinds. Still enjoying it immensley.
its worth itFebruary 20, 2010 Tezz Evans(UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like all Lost series it jumps around a bit - and you keep wondering what the point is to the island. (Maybe thats intentional and its cleverly written to get you thinking). But its worth sticking with it as twists and turns appear. You have to be a Lost fan to appreciate it - the benefit of buying the dvd set, is that you can go straight to the next chapter without losing momentum, and dont lose thread of the stories.
